This year has been such a whirlwind of emotions. As I write this we are in the midst of our third lockdown in the province of Ontario. And there are only two more months until our daughter arrives!
With this said, I can’t help but be grateful that this is my first pregnancy amongst a pandemic. I say I’m grateful for I don’t know what it’s like to go out while pregnant with friends, to have a set date for a baby shower, heck I don’t even know what it feels like to see family, fully pregnant.
At times, a part of me feels melancholy for the lack of family and friends I’ve encountered face to face in my pregnancy. However, I have had such a wonderful pregnancy.
I have felt amazing, been doing all the same things I used to do, and our baby is advancing perfectly. So truth be told, I couldn’t ask for anything more.
However, when the days of languish kick in; I boost my mood by doing something for myself:
- Workout in nature
- In a cute workout outfit
- Soak in an epsom salts bath
- Go for a walk, or sit outside and take deep breaths with the wind
- Or get totally dressed to the nines
This weekend I chose to do the very last.
As Andrew and I were reflecting on how much we genuinely miss going out with friends and having a drink on the patio surrounded by laughter and sunshine. We realized the sun was shining and we were laughing while the music was blaring in the background. We realized we had all we needed to make our own little backyard patio.
So we got dressed up, made virgin margaritas and smoked a chicken to dine out back.

It was an instant mood booster! Especially since we had been in our renovation clothes for almost two full days.
Sometimes all it takes is just a change in perspective- or clothing for me 😉
So if you’re feeling a bit blue, or miss the things you used to do before the restrictions and pandemic took over, this is my message to you.
Girl, wear the dress!! Do what makes YOU feel GOOD!
xoxo
